PRP / Fast Healing Extraction

In order to promote faster healing, we utilize the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

This technique is shown to increase both tissue and bone growth, which leads to quicker wound healing, by injecting blood plasma (taken from the patient) that has been enriched with platelets (cells that help stop bleeding) into the body. These platelet-rich plasma cells contain a mixture of growth factors that help clot and heal wounds in a more natural way. Platelet-rich plasma has been used for many years in hospital settings to accelerate healing and is becoming more common in the dental office. When used in dental care, this technique could lead to the long-term success rate of a patient who undergoes restorative procedures, such as bone grafting for a dental implant or bone repair following a tooth extraction.

Many patients choose platelet-rich plasma therapy because it significantly expedites the healing process and is completely safe. Disease transmission is not an issue because the blood used comes from the patient's own body.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is not for everyone, and we will assess if you are a proper candidate. Patients with blood clotting disorders are not recommend for treatment. If platelet-rich plasma is right for you, our team will take a 2 oz sample of your blood prior to your procedure. The plasma in your blood will then be separated from the red blood cells and the platelets with enriched growth factors will be added.
